I stuck my finger into the eye of God and lived
Russellville School District. I have found out that the school district has a budget of 45 to 50 million dollars. Now that would make one wonder on what is happening with all that money. So I went to my first school board meeting in April and listened to how the meeting went and just set there, not being ostentatious and was more like a fly on the wall.

First let me introduce myself, I am Robert McCready, coordinator of the Russellville River Valley Tea Party. Before this I was one of the original member of I.C.O.R. (Interested citizens Of Russellville) and had many disagreements with Mayor Turner. I have covered the Russellville city council ever since. I started the Tea Party in 2009. As I researched on where my tax dollars are spent. I looked and discovered that the majority of my tax dollars were going to the Russellville School District. I have found out that the school district has a budget of 45 to 50 million dollars. Now that would make one wonder on what is happening with all that money. So I went to my first school board meeting in April and listened to how the meeting went and just set there, not being ostentatious and was more like a fly on the wall. After the meeting was over, I asked if I could have a copy of the budget. I was given part one of three parts of the budget( The budget is for another discussion).

The next meeting was held Tuesday May the 17th. This meeting was very vitriolic for the board members point of view. Before the different schools brought in their students of the month, I raised my hand and said, madam chairman I would like to ask a parliamentary question! There was a gasp from the over flowing crowd. Then the lights flashed and the thunder roared! I did not know that I just poked my finger into the eye of God. The School board looked at each other and then the board president said in a bombastic and infelicitous tone that the board did not take questions from the floor! I thought for sure that there was a trap door and I was headed straight to Hell but I did not know who held the handle.

When does one ask a question? It is neccessary to get on the agenda a week or more before the general meeting, but that is if one of the board recognizes you at the general meeting. . I hope I will see you at the next Russellville school board meeting. We have to change this, and we will change it. There must be a free flow of ideas between the Board and the ones that pay the bills, we the tax payers.

Tea party meets the first Monday of each month at the main street mission at 6;30 pm
