Residents of Russellville have a unique drug store with over 50 years of russellville arkansas spring 2010experience in their midst. C and D drug store, located at 121 North Commerce Avenue in downtown Russellville, is a signature store of the Russellville business environment and the River Valley community.  Known as one of the anchors in our downtown district, C and D provides a blend of old philosophies and new ideas.

One of their services is very unique to our area. C and D has three Custom Compounding Pharmacists on staff. Melinda Reams, R.D. Walker, and Yanci Walker can create custom types of medicines or recreate specific types of formulas for a personalized solution. For example, if someone has trouble swallowing large pills, they can convert the medication into a liquid drug. They can add flavoring to yucky medicines for kids or adults. They can turn pills into a topical cream or suppository for easier consumption.
    For many years,
the snack bar has become a gathering place and social networking spot for many of the downtown shoppers and business owners. You are guaranteed to discover a home cooked meal and great conversation inside the C and D snack bar.
Many local Veterinarians also call on C and D. They compound custom medicines for animals. This compounding service has become more popular in the past years for different reasons. When products are discontinued or not available elsewhere, they can still create the formula for their customers.
Most pharmacies don't offer this service because it is an expensive process and requires specialized training. The tools used are very expensive.
Free prescription delivery is another C and D specialty. Not everybody can make it out of their homes and get to the drug store. Many customers comment about the free delivery and how it helps them avoid waiting lines or drive-through's.

C and D offer low-cost generic drugs like you'd find at other the "big box pharmacies". In fact, many are surprised to learn about additional savings when they request a 90 day supply of their regular medications.
C and D recently revealed their
first web site. Surprisingly, the oldest drug store in the River Valley was also a first to provide these unique online services. The C and D web site has been gaining popularity as more and more people are requesting refills online. Some are also transferring from their existing pharmacy to C and D online. The site includes: The History of the C and D storeA complete snack bar menu; online prescription ordering; Information about Hormone Replacement Therapy, EFA Deficiencies; Medicare Assistance and more.
The store is run by owners, R.D. Walker and his wife Johnna. Johnna Walker is well-known for the amount of volunteer work she provides the community. The Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce reports that Johnna is a dedicated volunteer for community projects such as: The River Valley Business Expo (Chair), Pope/Yell County Salute to Freedom, National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, Relay for Life, and the ATU Connection Committee. R.D. volunteers at The Christian Clinic in Dardanelle. In addition to helping others, they also enjoy the opportunity to tell others about the services they provide.
C and D drug store has been in business for over 50 years. You can read the history of the store
here. One of their business secrets isn't really a secret at all. They just treat customers right. The original philosophy of providing "courtesy and service" is still just as important today as when they received the keys.
Johnna explained their success comes from getting to know their customers personally. The relationships with C and D customers extends as long as 50 years. They've watched their customers have kids, who in turn, shop there today, and they bring their own grandchildren to the store. R.D. adds they have always been very blessed to have hired extremely good employees to work with them.
R.D really enjoys what he does. “my work is fun.” R.D. said. The two believe that drug stores like C and D will continue to grow in the future. Ten years down the road, they believe the pharmaceutical business will have expanded. One of the signs of this, is when students come in for a College of Pharmacy clinical rotation.  They learn about new ideas from the students and the students get excited at the thought of owning their own store like R.D. and Johnna. Visit:
